Orthodontics

ortodoncia

Orthodontics is the part of dentistry concerned with the alignment of teeth and jaws.

Brackets and braces are used to correct crowded or crooked teeth. However, in some cases, the teeth are straight, but the jaws do not fit properly.

The results are not only that you get a nice smile, but more important, a healthier mouth. If not corrected, other oral health problems could arise, including:

  1. Tooth decay (caries)
  2. Gum disease
  3. Loss of teeth
  4. Affected chewing and speaking abilities
  5. Unusual wear of the tooth enamel
  6. Jawbone problems

Since a poor bite can be seen between the ages of 6 and 12 years old, orthodontics may begin between the ages of 8 and 14 years old.  Starting treatment while the child is starting to grow contributes to better results, but that doesn´t mean that adults cannot have orthodontics.  It´s not a simple matter of aesthetics, patients can undergo dental treatment at any age.

Treatment plans vary depending on the case, and may range from one to three years. After removing the orthodontic treatment, a retainer must be used to keep the teeth in their new position.

We offer different solutions depending on your requirements and budget. Your orthodontist will assess your needs and will help you choose the right option for you.
